I don’t build something and then walk away.
I form close relationships with my clients that start before we break ground and last even after the project is finished. Together, we create a home, addition or renovation that they will love living in. I don’t advertise. All my clients come from referrals.Solving problems is my passion.
What I really love, and what I’m really good at, is solving problems. No matter how well you plan, there are always unforeseen twists in the road. I love taking challenges and turning them into opportunities.
How I got from there to here.
Originally from the Hudson Valley, NY, I attended Cornell University thinking I wanted to be an engineer but the more I got into it, it just didn’t call me. I wanted to get my hands dirty, not sit behind a desk buried in numbers. So, I got a job building cabinets and doing all sorts of renovations and custom projects, which is when I found what I really love to do: build things.
Over the next few years, as I began my own small business and simultaneously worked with a couple of established builders, I became aware of Joseph Lstiburek, founder of Building Science Corporation and a pioneer in building science.
Building science focuses on how the systems and assemblies in a structure (heating, A/C, insulation, ventilation, lighting, appliances, etc.) manage and interact with heat and moisture in a building to affect the home’s overall performance and longevity and the comfort, health and safety of the people who live in it.
I was so impressed with Lstiburek’s methods, philosophy and humor that I attended several of his seminars which delve into building performance, forensic analysis of building failures and building science in general. To this day, I continue to advance my knowledge and education through articles available on the Building Science Corporation (BSC) website.
BSC inspired me to continue my education in building science so that over the next few years, I completed training through the Building Performance Institute (BPI), receiving certification as a Building Analyst and Envelope Professional, and the Passive House Institute US (PHIUS) as a Certified Passive House Builder.
I put together a team of expert craftsmen who share my commitment to excellence, detail and client satisfaction. Every day, we still love what we do.
